Michael Fugeta

Michael Fugeta is an accomplished architect with extensive experience in the field. Currently serving as Principal and Associate Principal at Acton Ostry Architects Inc. since October 2010, Michael has also held various positions at the firm, including Associate and Intern Architect. Prior experience includes a role as Designer at Campos Leckie Studio and multiple internships at Pechet and Robb Art and Architecture, SHAPE Architecture, and Meiklejohn Architects Inc. Michael holds a Master of Architecture (MArch) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Installation Art and Sculpture from The University of British Columbia, complemented by a brief educational stint at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in 2004.

Since our inception in 1992, Acton Ostry Architects (AOA) has demonstrated a continuing commitment to the making of architecture that responds thoughtfully to local topography, climate, culture and to lessons learned from buildings inherited from the past. Russell Acton and Mark Ostry, the founding principals, lead the firm with three principals, five principal associates, two associates and 34 architectural staff, two of whom are LEED general associates, and one a LEED accredited professional. The values of our practice embody a consideration to sustainable design that is without wilful extravagance. Our design approach incorporates new technologies and materials that contribute to the realization of projects rooted in a considered, modernist idiom that offer sustenance to those that inhabit and experience them. We are experienced in a wide range of building types, both new construction and adaptive reuse. Our projects are grounded in extensive research into the historical, social and cultural context of their surroundings. We recognize the importance of planning, landscape and building design that adapts to changing client, occupant and technological needs.
