Kassiopeia Smith

Kassiopeia (Kassi) Smith is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Adams State University, with experience in designing and teaching courses that merge theoretical knowledge with practical applications while mentoring students for academic and career growth. Prior to this role, Kassi served as a Senior Scientist at 5th Gait Technologies, focusing on the development and testing of circuit card assemblies for high-radiation environments, ensuring compliance with military and ASTM standards. Kassi's research experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellow position at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), where materials characterization and collaboration on high-impact projects were key responsibilities, as well as a similar role at Boise State University. Kassi's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Boise State University and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from Washington State University.
