Gavin Choy has an extensive work experience spanning over several years in various companies and roles. Gavin started their career in 1995 as a Clinical Pharmacist at Stanford Hospital & Clinics, where they worked until 2010. From there, they joined Hana Biosciences, Inc./Talon as Vice President of Clinical Operations until 2007.
In 2007, Choy joined Astex Pharmaceuticals (US) as Vice President of Clinical Sciences & Operations, a role they held until 2014. During this period, they also served as Vice President of Clinical Operations from 2007 to 2012.
In 2014, Choy joined Galena BioPharma as Senior Vice President of Clinical Sciences & Operations, where they worked until 2016. Gavin then joined Apollomics (formerly CBT Pharmaceuticals, Inc.) as the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, a role they held until 2020.
From 2020 to 2021, Choy served as the President of CG Pharmaceuticals, Inc., the US subsidiary of CrystalGenomics. In the same year, they also co-founded Adaptive Research Inc and served as its Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder.
Choy continued their career as the Chief Clinical Development Officer at GT Biopharma, Inc. from 2021 to 2023. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Operating Officer at Beyond Cancer, Ltd. since February 2023.
Throughout their career, Choy has held various leadership and executive positions, demonstrating their expertise and knowledge in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry.
Gavin Choy completed their education in a chronological order. Gavin began by earning a PharmD degree in Pharmacology from the University of Southern California, where they studied from 1988 to 1992. After that, they pursued a Residency in Geriatric Pharmacology at the University of Southern California, which lasted from 1992 to 1993. Later, they obtained an MBA degree in Business from the University of California, Irvine - The Paul Merage School of Business, studying there from 2001 to 2003.
In addition to their formal education, Gavin Choy also obtained various certifications. Gavin acquired a Pharmacist License from the State of California Board of Pharmacy in 1992, and also received a Pharmacist License from the State of Nevada Board of Pharmacy in the same year. In 2001, they obtained a Clinical Research Training certification from the DRUG INFORMATION ASSOCIATION (DIA). Lastly, in 2021, they obtained a certification in Good Clinical Practices from the NIDA Clinical Trials Network.
