Ryan Sumpter has a diverse work experience across multiple industries. Ryan began their career in 2002 at the University of Kentucky, where they served as a Lab Animal Tech III and later as a Research Analyst. In 2011, they joined Exatherm LLC as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist I.
In 2012, Ryan transitioned to the healthcare industry, working as a Registered Nurse at Eastern State Hospital until 2014. Ryan then joined Eastern State Hospital UK Healthcare as a Quality Outcomes Specialist.
In 2015, Ryan moved on to the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center, where they served as Associate Superintendent until 2022. During this time, they gained experience in managing and overseeing operations.
In 2021, Ryan joined Addiction Recovery Care and held two consecutive roles: Senior Director of Healthcare Business Operations from 2021 to 2022, and Vice President of Systems Analytics from 2022, their current role.
Ryan Sumpter attended the University of Kentucky from 1997 to 2001, where they earned their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General. After a gap in their education, they enrolled at Bluegrass Community and Technical College from 2010 to 2012 and obtained an Associate's degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse. Following this, they returned to the University of Kentucky from 2001 to 2003 to complete a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science/Research and Allied Professions.

Addiction Recovery Care
Addiction Recovery Care (ARC) operates a network of 38 addiction treatment centers in 16 Eastern and Central Kentucky counties. The organization, headquartered in Louisa, Kentucky, offers a full continuum of care including detox, residential, transitional, intensive outpatient, outpatient, medically assisted treatment (MAT), vocational rehabilitation, and job training. The treatment centers are holistic with CARF-accredited clinical programs, medical services directed by an addictionologist, a Christ-centered spiritual emphasis that includes the 12 steps and chaplaincy care, and a broadening scope of vocational training opportunities for clients.
