Tom Kontos is the current Chief Economist at ADESA. Tom has been with the company since October of 2000, and in their previous role as Executive Vice President of Analytical Services, they provided periodic reports on used vehicle and salvage price trends, floorplan financing and profitability insights, and other strategic studies.
Tom's career in the automotive industry began in 1994 when they took on the role of Director of Strategic Planning and Market Analysis for ADT Automotive. In this role, they established himself as the auction industry's first economist and facilitated strategic planning sessions. Tom remained in this position until 2000 when they joined Rogers Group Inc. as Manager of Strategic Planning and Market Research.
At Rogers Group Inc., Tom was responsible for recruiting to internalize strategic planning process formerly conducted by costly outside consultants. Tom held this position until joining Vulcan Materials Company in 1986 as a Senior Market Research Analyst. Tom remained with Vulcan for two years before taking on the role of Supervisor of Business Planning for W. R. Grace & Co. in 1983. Tom held this position for three years before joining ADESA in 2000.
Tom Kontos has a Master of Science from Penn State University in Honors in Mineral Economics, a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University in Honors in Mineral Resource Economics, and an Associate of Arts from Montgomery College in Honors in Business Administration.
