Job Description:

As a Senior Data Engineer on the data team, you will own data pipelining and modeling for our emerging business efforts.

Your primary focus will be leveraging your passion for clean, structured data. We are looking to build company-wide accepted customer 360 datasets to standard to single-source-of-truth datasets. Your work will help us identify actionable insights from customer data and digital marketing channels. You enjoy being creative in your use of data-driven tools and methodologies to understand marketing levers. You are eager to initiate new ideas, approaches, and actions to move the business forward.

Reports To:

This role will report into leadership member, Caitlin Demko. Caitlin has over 10 years of experience and is passionate about developing ideas that encapsulate the intersection between writing, design and business strategy.

What We Need Your Help With:

  • Partnering with the data infrastructure engineering team to understand and help evolve and maintain our data warehouse and the ETLs that feed it.
  • Build a best in class data platform to drive critical business decisions
  • Partner with all of our internal analyst teams to understand the questions they are trying to answer and help them arrive at the right answers.
  • Simplify and improve data collection and reporting processes to automate manual workflows and eliminate manual dependencies
  • Reconcile data issues and alerts between various systems, finding opportunities to innovate and drive improvements

What We Look For:

  • You write advanced SQL with a preference for well-architected data models, optimized query performance, and clearly documented code
  • Exposure to Apache Airflow or other DAG frameworks — we use Airflow to orchestrate and schedule all of our data workflows and transformations
  • Practical experience in SQL modeling layer tools e.g. DBT/Dataform
  • Good general familiarity with cloud warehouses and cloud architecture
  • A growth mindset and eagerness to learn.
  • You exhibit great judgment and sharp business and product instincts that allow you to differentiate essential versus nice-to-have and to make good choices about trade-offs
  • You practice excellent communication skills, and you tailor explanations of technical concepts to a variety of audiences

Bonus skills & attributes

  • Work in visualization/business intelligence platform
  • Experience with operational tools and business systems such as Segment, Amplitude, and CRM
  • Identify, implement, and analyze a/b tests and campaigns
  • Terraform/Pulomi experience on AWS
  • Comfortable working with new APIs
  • Familiarity with Python
