Keith is one of Canada’s leading information technology lawyers. As past Chair of the Vancouver office’s Securities & Technology Group, he provides expert advice to start-up, emerging, and mature private technology companies, including in Angel, venture capital and growth financings and strategic advice in mergers and acquisitions. Keith is the recipient of the BC Technology Industry Association’s Bill Thompson Lifetime Achievement Award for his exemplary efforts in supporting the BC technology industry. In addition to acting as outside counsel, Keith worked as in-house counsel for the Wireless Data Group of Motorola from 1989 to 1990 and at the world’s first commercial quantum computing company, D-Wave Systems, from 2002 to 2003. Keith has also served on the Boards and Advisory Boards of numerous technology companies, including as the Chair of Dyaptive Systems (acquired by JDSU) and as a Director of Layer 7 Technologies (acquired by CA and named as the 2013 CVCA “Deal of the Year”). Keith currently serves on the Boards of INETCO Systems, Zafin Global, Elastic Path Software, Jane Software and a number of community-based organizations. Keith has been a frequent lecturer at the UBC Sauder School of Business, UBC Peter Allard School of Law and various continuing legal education programs.
