Larry Hunka

Larry Hunka has over 30 years of work experience in the field of Information Security. Larry currently serves as the Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Adtalem Global Education, where they lead the Information Security function and ensures the management and protection of information assets and technologies.

Prior to this, Larry held various leadership positions at Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Cadence Health, JPMorgan Chase, Northern Trust, Heller Financial, Tri-Sage, Nicor Gas, and National ShareData. In these roles, they played a key role in developing and implementing information security strategies, policies, and standards, mitigating risks associated with cyber threats, and managing international brand enhancement and protection. Larry also has experience in leading and overseeing enterprise-wide information security programs and initiatives, as well as providing direction and guidance in risk identification and evaluation.

Larry Hunka earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology/Business from Bradley University in the years 1978 to 1982. Larry later pursued an MBA in Information Systems Management from the Illinois Institute of Technology, completing the program between 1986 and 1989. Larry Hunka has also obtained additional certifications, including the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in September 2001 and the Boardroom Certified Qualified Technology Expert (QTE) from the Digital Directors Network, which was obtained in 2023. Additionally, they received training in ITIL v3 Foundation and Six Sigma Green Belt from Loyalist Certification Services and the Chicago Deming Association - Six Sigma Masters Program, respectively.
