Joseph Gatewood has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry, with a focus on policy, advocacy, and legal matters. Joseph started their career as an Attorney at the Department of Health and Human Services, Departmental Appeals Board, where they handled administrative adjudication related to Medicare and HHS program enforcement. Joseph then moved on to the HHS Office of Inspector General, where they served as Senior Counsel and handled legal matters related to healthcare compliance. Joseph also worked at Arent Fox as an Associate in the Health Care Practice, where they focused on healthcare compliance, litigation, and reimbursement issues. Joseph later joined the Broadcasting Board of Governors as an Attorney before taking on a leadership role as Vice President at AdvaMed. In this role, they were responsible for global strategy and analysis, including global reimbursement and procurement issues, as well as advocacy efforts in the EU and UK. Joseph also managed advocacy groups in Germany focused on the value of medical technology and the economic benefit of the MedTech industry.

Joseph Gatewood attended the American University Washington College of Law from 1988 to 1990, where they received their JD. Prior to that, they earned a BA from the University of Maryland in 1986, with a degree in Economics and Psychology.
