Sam Skupien

Software Engineer at Advanced Construction Robotics

Sam Skupien has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Sam started their career in 2009 in the United States Marine Corps, where they held various leadership positions and completed two combat deployments to Afghanistan. In this role, they attained the rank of Corporal and held two military occupational specialties.

After their service in the military, Sam worked at ProspHire in 2015 and 2016 as an Associate. During this time, they gained experience in client engagement, including client analysis, media production, and administrative duties.

In 2020, Sam joined IAM Robotics as a Software Engineer I, where they were responsible for full lifecycle ownership of various states and substates in the robot's mission execution software architecture. Sam worked on fleet-level, cloud-based traffic management, on-robot autonomous behaviors and messaging, and field deployment of autonomous mobile manipulation systems in production.

Most recently, Sam joined Advanced Construction Robotics in 2023 as a Software Engineer.

Sam Skupien received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh, where they studied from 2017 to 2019. In addition to their degree, Sam also obtained various certifications, including a FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and a USPA C License, both obtained in June 2023. They also completed a Robotics Software Engineer Nanodegree from Udacity in 2022. Prior to their university education, Sam obtained a Private Pilot certification from the Federal Aviation Administration in August 2015.
