Brian T. Turner

Policy Director, Western States at Advanced Energy United

Brian T. Turner has a diverse range of work experience in the energy and policy sectors. Brian T. most recently worked as the Policy Director for Western States at Advanced Energy United, starting in 2023. Prior to that, they managed their household and children during a limited-term pandemic position, which included a one-year sabbatical in France where they learned French to an upper intermediate level. From 2017 to 2020, Brian worked as a Consultant at Turner Energy Policy, advising renewable energy companies and launching the Western Resource Planners Forum. Brian T. also served as the Project Director for Renewable Energy Transmission Initiative 2.0 at the California Natural Resources Agency in 2016. Brian has held various positions at the California Public Utilities Commission, the California Air Resources Board, and the Office of the Governor in California. Brian T. has also worked as a Policy Analyst for the International Council on Clean Transportation and the Bipartisan Policy Center. Brian started their career as a Researcher and Consultant at UC Berkeley in the Energy and Resources Group.

Brian T. Turner holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Urban Planning from California State University - Sonoma, which they obtained from 1999 to 2001. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a dual Master's degree program at the University of California, Berkeley. From 2003 to 2006, they attended the Goldman School of Public Policy and earned a Master of Public Policy degree. During the same period, Brian also completed a Master of Science degree in Energy and Resources Group from the University of California, Berkeley.
