Advanced Geophysical Technology
Sheng Xu is currently the Chief Geophysicist at Advanced Geophysical Technology, Inc. since July 2025. Prior to this position, Sheng Xu served as Lead Researcher at Equinor from December 2012 to February 2025, where an algorithm was developed to correct time dispersion errors in wave propagation. Previous roles include Chief Scientist and Vice President of Research at CGGVeritas Inc., where significant contributions included the development of a full waveform inversion algorithm and a 3D angle gathers algorithm. Earlier experience also includes positions at Veritas DGC Inc. and PARADIGM GEOPHYSICAL, focusing on various geophysical algorithms and solutions. Sheng Xu holds a PhD in Geophysics from Mines Paris - PSL, and has academic credentials from the Institute Francaise du Petrole and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, along with a Bachelor's degree in Geophysics and Seismology from Peking University.
