David Surles

Deputy STO Chief at Advanced Technology Leaders, Inc.

David Surles has extensive work experience in the field of military operations and intelligence. David has worked in various positions and organizations, starting in 2005 with the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) as a Special Forces Assistant Detachment Commander, where they led reconnaissance missions and trained and advised Afghan Security Forces. David then moved on to serve as the Deputy Commander Regional Task Force - Horn of Africa at CENTCOM, where they managed and supported operational preparations and military source operations.

In 2010, Surles joined the United States Army Special Operations Command as an Action Officer in Personnel Recovery and the Small Unit Exchange Program, where they planned and facilitated deployments to enhance U.S. relationships abroad. David later served as the Special Program Group Director at the Special Operations Joint Task Force-Afghanistan, managing classified programs and coordinating personnel and equipment movements.

In 2014, Surles returned to the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) as the Special Activities Director, responsible for the Personnel Recovery Management System and overseeing advanced special operations techniques and missions. David also served as a Division Intelligence/Operations Mentor at the Afghan National Army Special Operations Command, coordinating intelligence and operations efforts.

In 2016, Surles joined USAJFKSWCS/SOCoE as a Doctrine Writer/Analyst, reviewing and advising on various publications and manuals to ensure accurate representation of the organization's views. David then assumed the role of Deputy STO Chief at Advanced Technology Leaders, Inc. in 2019.

Currently, Surles is working as a Doctrine Developer/Analyst at USAJFKSWCS, focusing on doctrine development and analysis.

David Surles received their Bachelor's Degree in Health Science from Campbell University, which they attended from 2002 to 2005. David later pursued further education and obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Strategic Security Studies from National Defense University, which they completed between 2013 and 2014.
