Giancarlo Notarianni

Giancarlo Notarianni is an accomplished executive in the pharmaceutical industry with extensive experience in managing operations across the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, and Nordics. Currently serving as General Manager at Shionogi Europe since July 2024, Giancarlo also holds the role of EU Franchise Head for Anti-Infectives. Previously, as General Manager at ADVANZ PHARMA and Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Giancarlo was responsible for significant business transitions and growth strategies, including full P&L accountability and the establishment of successful market entries. Prior experience includes senior roles at Astellas Pharma Europe, where leadership focused on commercial strategy and lifecycle management in the Urology and Dermatology franchises, and at AstraZeneca, where Giancarlo specialized in brand intelligence and forecasting. Educational credentials include a PhD in Biochemistry from Imperial College, an Executive program in Organizational Leadership from INSEAD, and an MSc in Medical Biotechnology from Newcastle University.
