Chris Baker

Chris joined Advent in 2019 bringing ten years of experience from the University technology transfer sector.

Prior to joining Advent, Chris was at UCL Business, focusing on business development and technology commercialisation from UCL’s Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, and the UCL Cancer Institute. His portfolio was focussed on gene and cell therapy, and amongst others, involved deals with UCLB spin-outs Autolus Therapeutics and Orchard Therapeutics.

Prior to that, Chris worked at Cancer Research Technology commercialising Cancer Research UK (CRUK) funded research, primarily from the University of Oxford, Imperial College, and the CRUK London Research Institute (Francis Crick Institute). In addition he was involved in creating new oncology drug discovery alliances with Pharma, and worked for CRUK to expand their clinical Stratified Medicine Programme and establish their Grand Challenge awards.

Chris received his M.Biochem from the University of Oxford, and a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Cambridge in the lab of Prof. Fiona Watt.
