Marilyn Bruno has extensive work experience in the fields of finance, trade, and consulting. Marilyn began their career in 1970 as an Assistant Resident Director at New York University, where they managed the academic Year Abroad and Summer Abroad for 300 graduate and undergraduate students, 80 faculty members, and 4 administrative staff. Marilyn also handled the budget of several million dollars annually and set up Spanish social security payments for faculty and staff. In 1980, they became an Investment Executive at Shearson American Express, where they developed procedures for the company to trade stock, bonds, and commodities on overseas exchanges. Marilyn also specialized in currency hedging. In 1981, they became an Account Executive at Dean Witter Reynolds, where they advised retail and commercial customers in investment strategies in the securities markets. Marilyn also lectured extensively on investment strategies, estate, and tax planning. In 1982, they became the Vice President of Latin American Trade Development at Ace American, Inc., where they developed commodity hedging programs for Latin American governments and multinationals. In 1983, they became the Vice President, Head of Precious Metals Department, and Head of Export Trade Company at Capital Bank, where they introduced computerized record management to the Bank and its branches. In 1985, they became the President of The Tradetech Exchange Inc., where they developed the first pre-internet international trade exchange. In 1992, they became a Foreign Service Officer in the Economic Bureau at the U.S. Department of State, where they promoted U.S. economic interests abroad. In 2007, they founded Bruno Consulting, LLC, where they provided consulting services related to antimoney laundering (AML), counterterrorist finance (CTF), Bank Security Act (BSA), Treasury Department Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designation process, Sanctions lists, regulatory updates, and more. Finally, in 2008, they became the CEO of AEQUOR, Inc., a biotech company that developed "green," non-toxic chemical compounds.
Marilyn Bruno's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Spanish Literature from New York University, which they obtained between 1970 and 1977. Marilyn also obtained a J.D. Cum Laude in International Business, Trade, and Tax Law from New York Law School between 1989 and 1992. Additionally, they obtained a B.A. Cum Laude in Spanish Lit/Psychology from Mount Holyoke College between 1965 and 1969. Lastly, they have obtained various certifications and licenses.
