Julian Atkinson has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Julian began their career in 2012 as a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern at Fabrinox Pty Ltd. In 2014, Julian worked as a Mechanical Engineer Intern at HG Molenaar. Julian then moved on to KU Leuven in 2018, where they served as a Biomechanical Research Engineer until 2019. Julian's most recent position was at Aerobotics, where they held multiple roles. Julian started as a Junior Data Scientist in June 2019 and transitioned to a Product Manager role in April 2020. Finally, in March 2022, Julian became the Head of Internal Products at Aerobotics.

Julian Atkinson completed their education in the field of engineering. Julian began their academic journey at Stellenbosch University in 2011, where they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering. Julian studied at the university for four years, completing their degree in 2015.

After obtaining their Bachelor's Degree, Julian furthered their education by pursuing a Master's Degree in Biomedical/Biomechanical Engineering at Stellenbosch University. Julian graduated with honors, achieving a cum laude distinction in 2017.

In addition to their formal education, Julian also obtained certifications in Python for Data Science and Machine Learning as well as in MySQL Bootcamp. Julian completed these certifications in April 2019 through the online platform Udemy.

Aerobotics was co-founded by James Paterson (CEO) and Benji Meltzer (CTO) and combines aerial imagery obtained from satellites and drones with its machine learning algorithms to provide early problem detection services to farmers, helping them to monitor their crops, receive early warning of potential risks, and optimize yields.
