Julian Lloyd has a long and varied work experience in the software engineering and airport systems fields. Julian began their career in 1984 as a Programmer for Sage, where they wrote the company's "Book keeper," "Accountant," and "Accountant Plus" software. Julian then moved on to British Airways in 1988, where they served as an Airport Systems Consultant. In this role, they were responsible for the technical development and support of the Passenger Reception System (PRS), used by 15,000+ customer service agents at 180+ airports around the world. Julian also chaired SITA's Technical Steering Committee, which set CUTE standards at 100+ airports, and was a BA member of the AEA Printer and Reader Standards Group. In 2018, Julian began working as a Software Engineering Manager for Flight-Solutions.com, and is currently in the same role for AeroCloud.

Julian Lloyd attended Newcastle University from 1979 to 1982, where they earned a degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water Resources Engineering.
