Cheyne Scoby

Cheyne Scoby is a highly experienced engineer specializing in avionics and electromagnetic compatibility. Currently serving as the Lead Avionics Engineer at Aetherflux since April 2025, Cheyne focuses on designing electrical power generation and distribution systems for space applications. Prior experience includes roles at Rivian as Sr. Manager of Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineering, where Cheyne scaled the EMC team and developed a comprehensive EMC lab, and at Virgin Orbit, leading efforts in EMC and electrical power systems for the Rocket Avionics department. Cheyne’s background also encompasses significant contributions to EMI design and validation at Virgin Galactic, Planet Labs, Space Exploration Technologies, and earlier research at UCLA and UC Santa Barbara. Cheyne holds advanced degrees in Accelerator and Charged Particle Beam Physics from UCLA and a Bachelor’s in Physics from UC Santa Barbara.
