M. Scott Hakel

M. Scott Hakel, CPL, MJEL, currently serves as the Land Team Lead for Texas at Aethon Energy since October 2024. Prior roles include Vice President of Land at EAG Business Holdings, Incorporated from January 2020 to October 2024, and Vice President of Land at Corterra Energy, LLC from September 2018 to January 2020. M. Scott Hakel held the position of Director of Land at ETX Energy, LLC from July 2014 to August 2018, and before that, served as Land Team Lead for Mississippi Lime and New Ventures at WPX Energy from August 2010 to June 2014, where responsibilities included Senior Landman in the Marcellus region and land team management in Kansas and other exploration areas. Previous experience includes roles at Sheridan Production Company, Questar, Frontier Land and Orion Exploration, and Encana, with early experience as an Accounting Clerk at Newfield Exploration. M. Scott Hakel holds a Master of Jurisprudence in Energy Law from The University of Tulsa College of Law and a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business, Pre-Law from Oklahoma State University. Additional education includes an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Accounting from Tulsa Community College.
