Katie McGimpsey

Principal at Affiliated Engineers, Inc.

Katie McGimpsey, joined Affiliated Engineers in 2005 as an entry level mechanical engineer and immediately demonstrated her leadership and organizational skills working as a project manager for one of AEI’s most complex laboratory projects. Because of her demonstrated expertise in leading large, complex projects, she became one of the youngest principals in the firm’s history. Katie’s experience covers all aspects for complex mechanical systems design for various new construction and renovation projects, including research, federal, healthcare, infrastructure, and institutional facilities. She has built vital client relationships with The University of Pittsburgh and The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and The National Institutes of Health. She provided engineering leadership on the NIH’s dual LEED® Gold- and Three Green Globes-certified Porter Neuroscience Research Center Phase II project.

Katie has acted as a juror for the ASCE Charles Pankow Foundation Architectural Engineering Student Competition, organized by the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI). She has spoken at numerous AALAS and Tradeline conferences and was named one of Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine’s “40 Under 40” in 2015.
