Nathan Cesarz

Nate Cesarz is a Principal and National Market leader for Affiliated Engineers’ Energy & Utilities group. His task minded approach has been critical to the success of energy master planning, detailed design, and construction administration projects for higher education, federal government, and corporate research clients.

Having spent his entire career with AEI, Nate has had the opportunity to work with a great many people on a great many large-scale projects. Some of his career highlights include being the lead engineer for: the Stanford Energy System Improvements project; the 47,500 ton-hour Thermal Storage Facility for the National Institutes of Health; over 40,000 tons of new chilled water capacity at Duke University; and, too-many-to-list thermal energy projects at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This wide range of work has expanded his technical expertise in analysis, emerging technologies, and carbon reduction opportunities. With this knowledge, Nate has taken an active role in developing and mentoring the Energy & Utilities Group on a national level.

Nate is a regular speaker at IDEA: International District Energy Association, sharing research, decisions, breakthroughs, and the performance of projects, including new heat recovery technologies and the extension of walkable utility tunnels through the heart of major college campuses.
