Balu Nair

Balu Nair is an accomplished data scientist with extensive experience in both academia and the industry. Currently serving as Principal Data Scientist in the AI Practice at Affine since May 2018, Balu has previously held the position of Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at SCMS School of Engineering and Technology, where responsibilities included teaching AI & Machine Learning and overseeing the Robotics Club. Balu's early career includes research positions at Carnegie Mellon University and HiFunda LLC, focusing on servo controller development and energy harvesting systems, respectively. Additionally, Balu worked as a Software Engineer at Infosys, contributing to gas turbine component modeling, and interned at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, where the design of key components for India's Reusable Launch Vehicle was undertaken. Balu holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering Trivandrum.
