Jie Tan is currently a Principal Scientist in Computational Science at Affinia Therapeutics. Prior to this, they were a Senior Scientist, Scientist II, and Scientist I in Computational Biology and Data Science at Kaleido Biosciences, Inc. from 2017 to 2016. In 2016, they were a Research Intern in Computational Biology at Kaleido Biosciences, Inc. From 2012 to 2017, they were a Graduate Research Associate at Dartmouth College, where they developed and evaluated a deep-learning based unsupervised approach to analyze large compendia of publically available gene expression data and extract biologically meaningful features, improved the method’s performance through ensemble modeling, and developed a novel pathway analysis pipeline for non-traditional model organisms using pathways directly inferred from data.
Jie Tan began their education in 2008, when they earned a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Zhejiang University. Jie then went on to Dartmouth College, where they earned a Master's degree in Computer Science from 2015-2017, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular and Systems Biology from 2012-2017.
