Colin Jackson currently holds the title of Co-Chair at Afghanistan War Commission and Chairman of the Strategic and Operational Research Department at U.S. Naval War College. With a background in academia, military service, and financial management, Colin has a wealth of experience in various roles such as Director of the Advanced Strategist Program and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Central Asia. A highly educated individual, Colin holds a PhD in Political Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MBA from The Wharton School, a MA from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and a BA from Princeton University.

Afghanistan War Commission
On December 27, 2021, Section 1094 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 (P.L. 117-81) established the Afghanistan War Commission to: (1) “examine the key strategic, diplomatic, and operational decisions that pertain to the war in Afghanistan during the relevant period, including decisions, assessments, and events that preceded the war in Afghanistan;” and (2) “to develop a series of lessons learned and recommendations for the way forward that will inform future decisions by Congress and policymakers throughout the United States Government.”
