Cynthia Cole-Heiss

Legal Aid Coordinator at African Community Center DC Metro

Cynthia Cole-Heiss serves as the Legal Aid Coordinator at the African Community Center DC Metro since September 2022. Previously, as the Community Program Coordinator at AsylumWorks from August 2021 to August 2022, Cynthia focused on building community ties for asylum seekers, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community, by organizing events and conducting client assessments. An intern with Washtenaw Congregational Sanctuary in early 2021, Cynthia contributed to immigration advocacy and communications. Earlier roles included managing a public pool for the City of Ann Arbor, where responsibilities encompassed employee supervision and conflict resolution, alongside prior positions as a lifeguard, swim instructor, receptionist, and student caller. Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from John Carroll University, complemented by academic experience at Pontifical Urbaniana University.
