Pietro Toigo

Pietro Toigo is an experienced economist and development professional with a robust background in managing significant portfolios and leading policy dialogue. Since January 2013, Pietro has served as Country Manager for Angola, São Tomé e Príncipe, and Mozambique at the African Development Bank Group, overseeing a portfolio exceeding $700 million and spearheading new operations. Prior roles include Chief Macroeconomist at the African Natural Resources Center and within the Governance and Economic and Financial Reforms Department, focusing on governance and financial management processes. Pietro's previous experience encompasses senior positions at the Department for International Development, where contributions included stabilisation programming for Libya and economic policy oversight. Additional roles at the European Commission, HM Treasury, and the Coalition Provisional Authority have further solidified expertise in economic advising, fiscal policy, and macroeconomic forecasting. Academic credentials include an MSc in Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science and a BSc in Economics from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
