Mark Gaffley

Mark Gaffley is a highly experienced professional who currently holds the position of Director at athinktank and Director of Business Operations at the African Observatory on Responsible AI. Previously, Mark has worked in various roles such as Partner at M Van Heerden Attorneys, Notaries and Conveyancers, Head of Research & Intelligence at Reflector, and Researcher and Project Manager: AI at Research ICT Africa. Mark's educational background includes a PhD in Private Law from the University of Cape Town, along with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts in History & Sociology from the same university. Additionally, Mark has completed a Certificate Course in the Law of Prospecting and Mining from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a Fitness Certificate from eta College.
