Chris O'Connor is a VP of Engagement & Legislative Affairs at AGC of California. Chris has been with the organization since September of 2018, and in their current role, is responsible for driving sustained net growth for the organization. This includes engaging the AGC team and membership in order to implement strategic plans, deliver service excellence by developing high quality solutions to address member needs, manage a regional team that coordinates regional activities, and manage a team that supports five different regional Boards of Directors.

Prior to joining AGC of California, Chris served as the Vice President of Transportation, Housing and Community Development at the Silicon Valley Leadership Group from January 2016 to August 2018. In this role, they co-led the development and campaigns of two large scale infrastructure ballot measures - the 2018 Regional Measure 3 campaign for the nine-county Bay Area and the 2016 Measure B Campaign in Santa Clara County. Chris also managed policy committees and led transportation policy efforts for the organization, delivered testimony as a “bill sponsor” at state legislative committees, tracked budgets and legislation at state and federal level, cultivated relationships with key legislators and staff, and represented the organization in public, speaking at city councils, conferences, panels, interviews with local media and authored op-eds.

Chris O'Connor has a Master of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from California State University-Sacramento. Chris also has a Graduate Seminar in Military and Strategic Leadership from USAF Air Command and Staff College. Lastly, they have a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from California State University-Sacramento.

Chris O'Connor reports to Peter Tateishi, CEO. A direct report to Chris O'Connor is and Ashley Rowe - Senior Regional Manager, Northern California. They work with Manny Leon - VP, Government Affairs, Mandy Powers - Director, Labor Relations, Southern California, and Caity Anderson - Regional Events Manager, Northern California.
