Scientist 3, Assays By Agena at Agena Bioscience

Brett Chapman has a diverse work experience in the field of molecular biology and genetic research. Brett started their career as a Laboratory Technician at the Australian Genome Research Facility (AGRF) in 2006, where they gained expertise in operating DNA sequencers and MassARRAY platforms. Brett then worked as a Research Assistant at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute from 2008 to 2014, focusing on developing custom SNP genotyping panels and providing screening projects to collaborators.

In 2014, Brett joined Agena Bioscience as a Senior Technician in the Assays By Agena team, where they were involved in panel design and troubleshooting. Brett was later promoted to Scientist and Team Leader of the APAC Assays By Agena team, responsible for leading the team through a pivot towards the development of custom and early access commercial panels.

After a company restructure in 2019, Brett transitioned into the role of Field Application Scientist, providing training, demonstrations, and troubleshooting of Agena Bioscience applications to customers in the Asia Pacific and Australia and New Zealand regions. Brett also provided guidance to the global Agena Customer Support team on assay design and panel development, with a focus on the company's Oncology Portfolio.

In February 2021, Brett returned to the role of Team Leader of the Assays By Agena team, now based in ANZ, responsible for the development of Agena's Market-driven Early Access Oncology applications and custom applications.

Apart from their industry experience, Brett will also be working as a Technical Assessor for Molecular Biology at the National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia starting from March 2023.

Brett Chapman began their education in 2003 at QUT (Queensland University of Technology) where they pursued a degree in Applied Science with a focus on Biochemistry and Biotechnology. Brett completed their studies in 2005. In 2007, Brett attended the Gordon Institute of TAFE and obtained a Graduate Certificate in Biotechnology Industries, finishing in 2008.

In addition to their formal education, Brett has obtained several certifications. In December 2019, they obtained the certification for "Excel: Tips and Tricks" from LinkedIn. In the following months of 2020, they gained certifications in "Having Difficult Conversations," "Creating Great First Impressions," "Learning Personal Branding," "Pitching Your Ideas Strategically," "Income Statement (P&L) and Cash Flow Explained," "How to Project Vocal Confidence," and "Customer Service: Handling Abusive Customers," all from LinkedIn. Most recently, in March 2021, Brett obtained a certification in "Digital Body Language" from LinkedIn.
