Hieun Shin

Hieun Shin is an experienced journalist currently serving as a Correspondent for AFP since May 2024. Prior to this role, Hieun held the position of Vice President at AAJA-Asia from January 2023 to December 2024. Hieun's previous experience includes working as a Seoul Bureau Reporter for The Economist from March 2018 to May 2024, where responsibilities included writing and producing news pieces focused on South and North Korean politics, economics, society, business, finance, and culture. Hieun contributed to the conception, research, reporting, and structuring of stories on a wide range of topics related to the Korean Peninsula. Hieun earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Economics and Business Administration from Ewha Womans University, graduating in February 2019.
