Andrew Karmele

Andrew Karmele has held several positions in the past eight years. In 2012, they were a Mechanical Engineer at the Air Force Institute of Technology. In 2015, they were a Mathematics Teaching Assistant at The Ohio State University. In 2016, they were a Salesperson at TarDisk LLC. In 2017, they were a Client Support at Delsys, Inc. and a Systems Engineer at Siemens Healthineers. Since 2020, they have been a Lead Engineer and a SOC Analyst at AgileBlue. As a SOC Analyst, their primary task was to review and escalate alerts deemed anomalous and/or suspicious. Andrew also investigated, analyzed, and researched various types of alerts, performed incident monitoring and response, triaged and initial investigations, analyzed breaches to determine root cause, documented, prioritized, and analyzed security threats, incidents, and key metrics, offered world-class customer support, conducted monthly client meetings, provided recommendations to clients based on cyber best practices, and performed QA testing on client portal website.

Andrew Karmele obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biomedical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2016. In 2019, they began a Master of Science (MS) in Cybersecurity Engineering at New York University - Polytechnic School of Engineering. Andrew has also obtained several certifications, including the Machine Learning Specialization and Unsupervised Learning, Recommenders, and Reinforcement Learning from Coursera in December of 2022, Advanced Learning Algorithms from Coursera in June of 2022, the NSA-CAE Defense from the National Security Agency in June of 2022, Supervised Machine Learning: Regression and Classification from Coursera in June of 2022, the 2021 Academic Achievement Award (NYU Cyber Fellows) from New York University - Polytechnic School of Engineering in June of 2021, Technical Sales: The Role of the Sales Engineer from LinkedIn in October of 2019, Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python) from Coursera in October of 2018, Python Data Structures from Coursera in October of 2018, and Python Essential Training from LinkedIn in September of 2018.
