Jay Jasper has worked in a variety of engineering roles since 2009. In 2010, they worked as a Process Engineer Intern at Precision Associates Inc, where they set up and developed standard procedures for a 4-axis CNC Lathe and collected and analyzed data to evaluate and improve the efficiency of the deflashing/rocking department. In 2011, they returned to Precision Associates Inc as an Automation Engineer Intern, where they designed a multi-step robotic cell to place colored marks on small rubber seals. In 2012, they worked as a Research Assistant at Purdue University's Mechanical Engineering Department, and as a Satellite Antenna Systems Design Engineer Intern at Boeing. In 2013, they worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at CMU Google Lunar XPrize Team, where they co-designed Andy 3 and was responsible for motor & gearbox performance analysis and selection. Jay also worked as an Automation Engineer Intern at Precision Associates Inc and as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Bistrobot. In 2014, they continued to work at Bistrobot, where they independently developed and manufactured prototypes of three automated food-dispensing stations. In 2015, they started working at JPL (NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory) as a Robotics Mechanical Engineer III, where their responsibilities ranged between system architect and detailed mechanical design. In 2022, they will start working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Agility Robotics.
Jay Jasper attended The Blake School (HS) from 1999 to 2009. Jay then attended Purdue University from 2009 to 2013, graduating with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with distinction in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. Afterward, they attended Carnegie Mellon University for a Master of Science (M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from 2013 to 2015.
