Associate Director, Cybersecurity | Virtual Chief Information Security Officer at Agio

Virginia Carty has a diverse work experience in the cybersecurity and IT field. Virginia started their career in 2011 at RJB Systems as a T24 EOD Clerk, where they handled end-of-day batch scripts for international banks and resolved IT issues. In 2011, they joined LogRhythm as a Network Security Research Analyst and later became the LogRhythm Labs Team Lead. In this role, Virginia led a team, monitored security operations, assisted customers with product implementation, and published security-focused blogs. Finally, since 2014, Virginia has been working at Agio, initially as a Senior Cybersecurity Consultant and later transitioning to the role of Associate Director, Cyber and Compliance | Virtual Chief Information Security Officer. In their current role, Virginia provides security governance guidance, identifies cybersecurity risks, and leads gap assessments against NIST standards.

Virginia Carty has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Oboe Performance from Adams State University, which was obtained between 2004 and 2009. Virginia also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University, obtained between 2010 and 2011. Additionally, Virginia has obtained various certifications including Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer™ (CDPSE™) from ISACA in 2020, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in 2019, Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) from (ISC)² in 2017, Certified CSF Practitioner (CCSFP) from HITRUST Alliance in 2017, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from ISACA in 2017, and PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) from PCI Security Standards Council in 2014.
