Helaina Black

Chief Science Officer at Agricarbon

Helaina Black currently serves as Chief Science Officer and Scientific Adviser at Agricarbon since March 2018. In addition, Helaina Black is a consortium member of the UK Farm Soil Carbon Code since March 2020 and holds the position of Honorary Research Associate and Head of Ecological Sciences at The James Hutton Institute since August 2006. Previous roles include Research Leader for the Function and Value of Soils, UK Representative on the First Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils for the FAO from April 2013 to March 2015, and President of the British Society of Soil Science from January 2011 to December 2012. Helaina Black also worked at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology as Head of Soil Ecology from April 1996 to August 2006 and served as Soil Zoologist at the Natural Resources Institute from August 1987 to July 1996.
