Nic Fischer

Head of Autonomy at Agtonomy

Nic Fischer is the current Head of Autonomy at Agtonomy. Prior to this, they served as Systems & Robotics Lead at X, which was acquired by Uber in April 2018. There, they led systems engineering, cross-functional architecture and product design of a novel mobile robotic platform for last mile logistics deliveries on sidewalks in urban and suburban markets. Nic was also the senior manager of a team of 4 interdisciplinary engineers focused on lidar-inertial odometry, localization, mapping, behavioral autonomy, sensor fusion, collision avoidance and systems engineering.

Prior to their time at X, Nic served as Principal Engineer at area17 from February 2016 to February 2018. Nic also served as Control Systems Engineer at PRENAV from February 2015 to January 2016, and as Engineering Consultant at AeroCine from November 2014 to June 2015. Their first role out of college was as Senior R&D Engineer at Sols Systems from June 2014 to December 2014.

Nic has a degree in mechanical engineering from UC Berkeley. Nic is a recipient of several patents for their design and development work on Serve, a mobile robotic platform for last mile logistics deliveries.

Nic Fischer's educational career began with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida. Nic continued their education at the University of Florida, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Dynamics, Systems and Control.

They are on a team with Karen Carte - CFO, Behrooze Sirang - Head of Embedded Software, and Valerie Syme - COO. Nic Fischer reports to Tim Bucher, CEO.
