Andreas Windisch

Andreas Windisch serves as the Head of Research Group at JOANNEUM RESEARCH Forschungsgesellschaft mbH, focusing on Intelligent Vision Applications since July 2023. As Chief Science Officer and board member of AI Austria since May 2020, Andreas Windisch co-founded the Reinforcement Learning Community to foster collaboration among practitioners and advance industry applications of reinforcement learning. In addition to roles as a lecturer in Machine Learning at FH Joanneum and Quantum Computing at Graz University of Technology, Andreas Windisch holds an honorary research scientist position at Washington University in St. Louis focusing on theoretical physics and machine learning applications. Previous positions include team leader of Research Data Science at Know-Center GmbH and a staff scientist at Silicon Austria Labs. Andreas Windisch earned a PhD in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from the University of Graz and has a Nanodegree in Deep Reinforcement Learning from Udacity.
