Elaine Patterson

Elaine Patterson, Ph.D., is an accomplished microbiologist currently serving as the Head of the Fonterra Microbiome Research Centre in Ireland since March 2024. Prior experience includes roles as Health Science & Technology Lead at Novozymes OneHealth from October 2021 to March 2024, and Senior Scientist at International Flavors & Fragrances from February 2021 to October 2021, as well as DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences for several years in comparable positions from June 2017 to February 2021. Elaine's research background includes a post-doctoral fellowship with APC Microbiome Ireland, focusing on the interplay between diet, probiotics, and the gut microbiome in relation to metabolic disease. Education credentials include a Ph.D. in Microbiology from University College Cork, completed in 2014, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Neuroscience from the same institution, earned in 2009.
