Laura Funderburk

Laura Funderburk is a seasoned professional in developer relations and data science, currently serving as the Developer Relations and Community Lead at AI Makerspace since May 2025. Previously, Laura held positions as a Senior Developer Advocate at Bytewax and a Developer Advocate at Ploomber, where technical content creation and innovative AI application development were key responsibilities. Laura's experience includes working as a Data Scientist at Seaspan Corporation and Cybera Inc., focusing on automated data pipelines and partnerships for impactful open-source projects. Laura also has a background in DevOps Engineering with iReceptor Plus, ensuring data quality and performance tracking. Additionally, prior roles involved educational contributions to K12 students and active participation in online hackathons and workshops. Laura earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Simon Fraser University and has studied Mathematical Engineering at Instituto Politécnico Nacional.
