A/Prof Newman L. Harris

A/Prof Newman L. Harris serves as the Chief Medical Officer at AIA Australia since September 2022 and holds the position of Associate Professor at Griffith University since November 2020. With extensive experience in pain medicine and psychiatry, Harris previously served as Chief Medical Officer (Psychiatry) at RGA Australia Reinsurance from August 2012 to March 2024, where responsibilities included the assessment of claim files and training lectures for teams. A significant contributor to the Pain Management & Research Institute at the University of Sydney as a Visiting Medical Officer since February 1995, Harris has also been involved in teaching and mentoring throughout a diverse medical career. Other notable roles include Senior Staff Specialist - Pain Physician at Gold Coast University Hospital and board memberships with the Faculty of Pain Medicine and Painaustralia. Academic achievements include a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from UNSW, a Master of Medicine in Pain Medicine, and fellowships with the Faculty of Pain Medicine and the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
