Andrew Paine

Andrew Paine has extensive work experience in the field of data science and analytics. Andrew is currently working as the Principal Data Scientist at Aible since 2020. Prior to this, they held the role of Principal Data Scientist at Virtana from 2019 to 2020.

Before joining Virtana, Andrew worked at Metricly (acquired by Virtana) from 2016 to 2019, where they initially served as the Chief Data Scientist, responsible for thought leadership, leading the data science team, cross-tenant research, and designing new public cloud cost analysis features. Andrew then transitioned to the role of Full Stack Data Scientist, working on the research, implementation, and maintenance of AWS cost analysis features and real-time machine learning anomaly detection algorithms.

From 2013 to 2016, Andrew served as the Principal Professional Services Consultant at Netuitive, which was later renamed Metricly. In this role, they were responsible for modeling and integrating new data feeds for real-time multivariate performance analytics, project scoping and implementation, designing advanced client-facing analytics applications, and providing deep technical consulting and issue resolution.

Prior to their role at Netuitive/Metricly, Andrew worked at Actuate from 2010 to 2013 as the Director of International Professional Services. Here, they managed operations, sales, and project delivery across multiple regions, built relationships with consulting partners, and led an international team of consultants.

Before joining Actuate, Andrew held various roles at Actuate and Customer Systems Ltd as a Managing Consultant, Principal Consultant, and Senior Consultant, where they played key roles in managing operations, sales, and project delivery.

Andrew's career began at Southampton University, where they worked as a Researcher from 1995 to 1998, conducting PhD and post-doctoral research in semiconductor physics, data analysis, and modeling.

Andrew Paine completed their Master of Engineering - MEng degree in Engineering and Materials Science from the University of Oxford from 1990 to 1994. Following that, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree in Numerical Modelling for Semiconductor Physics at the University of Southampton from 1994 to 1998.
