Lawson Carmichael

Lawson Carmichael is the current Chief Operating Officer at AICPA. Prior to this, Carmichael worked for Deloitte for over 10 years, culminating in the role of Director of Corporate Strategy. In this role, Carmichael led project teams of C-suite executives to develop long-term strategies for growth, market share capture, and profitability.

Carmichael has a wealth of experience in developing growth strategies, both organic and inorganic. After the acquisition of BearingPoint, Carmichael led the development of the Federal Government practice growth strategy, which increased revenue run-rate by over $800 million in just 5 years. Carmichael is also experienced in developing talent strategies, having directed the Talent 2020 strategy to identify implications and key changes for the talent marketplace.

Carmichael has a proven track record in executing successful go-to-market strategies. Lawson developed go-to-market strategies for key industries such as Health Care Providers, Oil & Gas, Media & Entertainment and Financial Services. These strategies helped grow revenues by $2.5 billion over 5 years and double market share.

Carmichael is skilled in conducting market sizing and forecasts, competitive analyses, investment analysis and valuation, industry market trend analyses and voice of the customer research. This experience has helped him become an expert in strategy development and execution.

Lawson Carmichael has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business in the field of Financial Management. Lawson also has a degree from Towson University in Organizational Development and Communication. Lastly, they have a degree from the University of Richmond in Organizational Development and Communication.

Lawson Carmichael reports to Barry Melancon, CEO. They are on a team with Irene Teng - EVP, Global Markets, Janice Maiman - EVP, Communications, PR and Content, and Andrew Harding - Chief Executive, Management Accounting.
