Joel Ritsema

Director of Data Services at AIDS Foundation of Chicago

Joel Ritsema has extensive work experience in research, data analysis, and teaching. Joel has held various positions at the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, starting as a Research Consultant in 2009 and later becoming a Research Associate and then the Associate Director of Research, Evaluation, and Data Services. In 2020, they were promoted to the role of Director of Data Services. At Northeastern Illinois University, Joel worked as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Sociology from 2011 to 2015, teaching courses such as Urban Sociology and Introduction to Social Statistics. Joel also served as an Adjunct Instructor at Loyola University Chicago from 2010 to 2013, teaching courses on topics including Self and Society and Race and Ethnic Relations. Joel's experience also includes roles as a Research Coordinator, Instructor, and Project Co-Instructor at Loyola University Chicago from 2008 to 2010.

Joel Ritsema completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Sociology at Grand Valley State University from 2000 to 2005. Joel then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Sociology from Eastern Michigan University, where they studied from 2006 to 2008.
