Essi Vehmersalo

Essi Vehmersalo has over 16 years of experience in software development and engineering roles. Essi is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Aiforia Technologies since November 2021.

Prior to their current role, Essi worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Spacent from April 2020 to November 2021. At Spacent, they were responsible for developing the full stack of the Spacent platform, including payment integration and external space management systems.

From January 2019 to April 2020, Essi worked as a Lead Dev at KAMU Health Ltd. Essi played a key role in developing a medical-grade consumer service for monitoring lung health, utilizing Android and iOS mobile apps.

Before that, Essi worked as a Senior Consultant at Reaktor Innovations from October 2012 to January 2019. Essi worked on various customer projects, including the development of a major ecommerce service. Essi particularly enjoyed working on projects guided by data and analytics.

Essi also gained experience at Nokia, where they held several roles. From April 2011 to September 2012, they worked as a Scrum Master and Senior Software Engineer for Nokia TV, contributing to the development of a mobile video streaming service. Essi also worked on MeeGo cellular adaptation and as a Voice/SMS team lead for Nokia in open source MeeGo.

Additionally, Essi worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Nokia in the Mobile Solutions and Music RnD teams from December 2008 to January 2011. Essi started their career at Nokia/Devices as a Senior Design Engineer and Scrum Master, focusing on developing seamless and secure connectivity for Nokia's networking middleware.

Throughout their career, Essi has gained expertise in various technologies, including JavaScript, TypeScript, React Native, Objective-C, Java, C#, C++, and Node.

Essi Vehmersalo obtained a MSc (Tech.) degree in Telecommunications software with a minor in Software systems from Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan, where they studied from 1999 to 2005. Essi also has additional certifications in various areas such as Convolutional Neural Networks, Deep Learning Specialization, Sequence Models, Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter Tuning, Regularization and Optimization, Structuring Machine Learning Projects, Machine Learning, Machine Learning Foundations: A Case Study Approach, and Scrum Master Certified (SMC). The certifications were obtained between 2007 and 2018 from institutions like Coursera.
