Federico Fontana

Head of Hardware Engineering at AIKO - Autonomous Space Missions

Federico Fontana has been working in the field of embedded engineering since 2021, when they joined Aiko as a Senior Embedded Engineer. Prior to this, they worked at Marelli from 2017 to 2021, where they held three different roles. Federico's first role was as an Electronics Software Perception - Embedded AI Specialist, where their main activities included deploying Artificial Intelligence algorithms for perception tasks on embedded platforms, modifying neural networks topologies and optimization for the inference phase, and developing an automatic custom toolchain. Federico then held a role as a Business Development - AI Platforms Benchmarking Intern, where they gained experience with different low-power hardware. Lastly, they were a Automated Driving Technologies - Master's Thesis Candidate, where they developed code to exploit specific HW features of FPGA architectures to reduce execution time and increase efficiency.

Federico Fontana's education history includes a Bachelor degree in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, obtained between 2011 and 2015. Federico then went on to obtain a Master's degree in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Torino between 2016 and 2017. Federico also holds an Executive Master Certificate in Project Management e Metodologia Agile from 24ORE Business School, obtained in 2022. Additionally, they obtained an Abilitazione alla Professione di Ingegnere dell'Informazione from Politecnico di Torino in January 2019, and a First Certificate in English from Cambridge Assessment English in August 2009.
