Monica Cradle has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and organizations. Starting in 1998, they worked as a Speech Pathologist at United Cerebral Palsy of New York City, providing small group and individual language instruction to preschool and school-age children with multiple handicaps. Monica then moved on to Nychhc Woodhull Hospital, where they served as an Inpatient Acute Care SLP, working with ICU and pediatric ICU patients and supervising students. From 2002 to 2010, they worked at Challenge Early Intervention as a Speech Language Pathologist for the 0-3 population, evaluating and treating developmental delays. Monica also worked as a Speech Language Pathologist at the Infant Child Learning Center @ SUNY Downstate, providing group instruction to preschoolers and modeling language lessons. In 2010, they joined KIPP NYC as a Classroom-Based Speech and Language Pathologist, focusing on improving oral, written, and auditory comprehension skills among middle school students. Following that, they worked at New York Therapy Placement Services, Inc. (NYTPS) as an SLP Evaluator, collaborating with school support teams and analyzing assessment data. Monica continued their career at NPORT Staffing as a Consultant Speech-Language Pathologist, specializing in subacute rehabilitation and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. From 2019 to 2021, they served as a Senior Program Manager/Literacy Coach at Literacy Trust. In 2021, they joined Amira Learning as a Regional Director of Customer Success, and in 2022, they became a Senior Manager of Literacy and Implementation at AIM Institute for Learning & Research. Monica'scurrent role as Regional Director of Implementation and Partnerships at AIM Institute involves working with state education departments, district administrators, and educators to improve student literacy outcomes using evidence-based learning practices and the science of reading.
Monica Cradle obtained their Doctor of Education degree in Reading Science from Mount St. Joseph University between 2021 and 2024. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of the District of Columbia from 1993 to 1996. Monica'sBachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology was obtained from Towson University from 1988 to 1993. Monica Cradle also holds several additional certifications, including IDA/CERI certification to teach reading from the International Dyslexia Association in 2022, Acadience Mentor certification from Acadience in 2022, Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped certification from NYS Department of Education in 2011, and NYS Speech-Language Pathologist certification from NYS Office of Professions in 1997. Monica is also trained in the Wilson Reading System.
