Duncan Shand

Duncan Shand is currently working as the Senior Managing Director of Investment Research & Portfolio Construction at the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) since January 2022. Prior to joining AIMCo, they were a Professor of Practice at the University of Warwick from October 2013 to June 2021. Duncan also worked at Schroders as a Senior Investment Director from November 2015 to December 2020 and as a Senior Advisor from March 2014 to November 2015. Before that, they were a Managing Director at BlackRock from March 2000 to December 2013. Duncan's earlier work experience includes serving as an Analyst Programmer at Logica from August 1998 to March 2000 and as a Research Fellow at the University of St Andrews from August 1996 to August 1998.

Duncan Shand completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Combined Honours at the University of Liverpool from 1989 to 1992. Duncan then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Pure Mathematics at the same university from 1992 to 1993. Following this, they attended the University of St Andrews from 1993 to 1996, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Theoretical Computer Science / Mathematics.
