Dr Hamied A Haroon

Head of Imaging Research at AINOSTICS

Dr. Hamied A Haroon has held a variety of roles in their work experience. In 2014, they founded and served as the Convenor of NADSN - National Association of Disabled Staff Networks, a not-for-profit social enterprise focused on the equality of disabled staff in the tertiary education sector. Dr Hamied A later became the Chair of NADSN and currently holds the position of Director of NADSN CIC.

Between 2004 and 2017, Dr. Haroon worked at The University of Manchester, initially as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Biomedical Magnetic Resonance Imaging and later as a Tutor for MBChB Phase 1 Portfolio of Personal and Professional Development. Dr Hamied A also served as Co-Chair and then Chair of the Disabled Staff Network at the university.

In 2019, Dr. Haroon joined AINOSTICS as a Medical Imaging Scientist and later became the Head of Imaging Research. Dr Hamied A has also worked as a Consultant on Diffusion MRI Analyses at Bioxydyn Limited since 2015.

Dr. Haroon is a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at The Royal Society since 2021. Dr Hamied A was previously the North West Regional Co-Lead for the Deep Dementia Phenotyping (DEMON) Network, a role that concluded in February 2022 when the network transitioned to a global leadership structure.

Overall, Dr. Hamied A Haroon has a diverse background in research, teaching, and advocacy for disabled staff networks.

Dr. Hamied A Haroon began their education by completing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Honours degree in Physics at UMIST. Dr Hamied A then went on to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Medical Physics at The Victoria University of Manchester. This university later merged into The University of Manchester in 2004.

Dr. Haroon furthered their education by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in Medicine from The University of Manchester. This degree was completed in a span of five years, from 2000 to 2005.
