Karla L. has over 25 years of work experience in the payments industry. Karla started their career in 1995 as a Leis Consulting in California and Nevada, providing a unique and sustainable approach to business process improvements and leadership training. In 1998, they joined American Express as a Lead Project Specialist and Business System Analyst. Two years later, they moved to American Express Global Network as an Implementation Manager. From 2007 to 2013, they worked at Mercury Payment Systems as a Product Manager and Agile Project/Product Manager. From 2013 to 2015, they were a Customer Experience Leader at Total Merchant Services of Aspen. Karla then joined Expedia, Inc. as a Global Operations Payment Manager from 2015 to 2018. From 2018 to 2019, they served as a Senior Payments and Fraud Manager at Pinterest. Finally, they are currently a Senior Manager, Payment Operations at Airbase since 2022.

Karla L. obtained a BA in Business Management from the University of Arizona between 1982 and 1984. Karla then attended the Institute and University of Phoenix to study Business Management. In 2006, they received a CAPM certification from the Project Management Institute. In 2009, they obtained a CSM and CSPO certification from the Scrum Alliance. Finally, in 2011, they were certified as a Certified Scrum Professional, and in 2012, they obtained a PMI Agile Certified Practitioner certification.
