Product Design & DEI Leadership at Airbnb

Jamie Cristal is an interdisciplinary designer working at the intersection of design, technology, humanity, and inclusion. With over 15 years of professional experience, she spent over 10 years leading product design for several Fortune 500 companies in Silicon Valley. Jamie spent the first 5 years of her creative career in Los Angeles as a visual communications designer focused on graphic design and illustration before pivoting into tech. Her professional skills range from graphic design, branding, print, and production to motion, prototyping, and building notable digital products and experiences that encompass inclusive and innovative interfaces.

At Airbnb, Jamie leads product design initiatives related to visual design systems, accessibility, and globalization to design a world where anyone can belong anywhere. She is also a culture contributor and serves as a Global Chair for Airbnb's Diversity & Belonging leadership committee where she fosters community and drives cultural awareness and social impact to support marginalized communities.

Previously Jamie worked as an in-house creative at Meta (fka Facebook), Flickr, Tumblr, and Yahoo. Before graduating college she received a full-time offer from Marissa Mayer, Google's first female engineer and 20th employee turn Yahoo CEO. In 2013, Jamie became a founding Design Associate and led design for both internal and external products ranging from data analytics and security to beloved products like Flickr. For a brief period in 2017, she explored a role in Operations as a Design Program Manager at Meta, leading design education and product quality initiatives. She later rekindled her passion for pushing pixels and got hands-on designing a popular feature called 'Stories' and launched it to the world.
